61. "It's nothing short of miraculous." Says
one mom whose 16 year old daughter is at Tranquility Bay in Jamaica.
"It was the best thing we've ever done. She is off drink and other drugs. Tranquility Bay is not cushy," she said. "It's harsh. But it saved her life."
62. "I went from Level 1 to Level 6 because I realized that I was worth it. One thing that always pleased my parents throughout my program was that I have never once sent home any letters of manipulation. They created that by clearly stating their commitment in the beginning and never wavering, even when times got tough. Spring Creek Lodge and the seminars have been the backbone of my family, and I wouldn't change a minute of it."
63. "Looking back on it now I see how stubborn I was and how I was closed off to love. There is no way to express all of my love for the Staff, my peers, or the environment at Spring Creek Lodge. Without Spring Creek I would be dead, and that says enough. Thanks to all who assisted me."
64. "I was just another statistic ranking with the millions of other depressed teenagers around the world. It's impossible to express how grateful I am that all that changed. It took everything getting stripped away from me, but it worked."
65. While in the program "I began to realize that the world works because people do, and nothing just happens by itself. So, I made the decision that I wanted to go to college."
66. "The most important thing that I learned"..in the program.."is how to be happy every single day no matter what the circumstances. I found out how to live and not just wait through the time that life provides me.
67. "I became carefree enough to sing ridiculous songs to everybody every morning and night without a worry of what other people were thinking about me."
68. Update - since graduating the program "Guess what! I got hired on the spot! I had two interviews and as soon as they started asking me questions about leadership and helping other people, I knew I was going to get the job. Isn't life splendid?"
69. "On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this thing an 11. It's clean; it's loving, they care about kids."
70. "It may not be for everyone, but it saved our son's life."
71. "These are people who care about kids and show it emotionally. This is a place where your child is appreciated, and even loved, for who he is."
72. "We knew we had to intervene in a more direct manner, you know you have to do something big to save your child's life. It's hard for people who haven't experienced a meltdown in their own family to appreciate the special needs these kids have. Most kids end up thanking their parents for giving them an opportunity to have a life."
73. "She really has some life skills now That's the thrust of the program. It teaches them to believe in themselves."
74. Referring to a graduate who volunteered at a community event "At Ivy Ridge she found the direction which will see her enter college for a Nursing major in the fall. She credits her success story with Ivy Ridge's philosophy of involving it's students in community projects."
"Doing things like this, Ivy Ridge has given me the tools to suceed in life."
75. "It didn't just change my daughter, it changed my wife and me, our family used to be dysfunctional. Now we have fun."
76. "When he arrived at Casa by the Sea...he chose telling words to describe his self-image; "stakeboarder, clown, pothead." In the nearly 12 months since, he has come to consider himself a "clean, strong, intelligent young man."
77. "I am thankful I have parents who are willing to make sacrifices to keep me here, and for all the people here who have supported me and not allowed me to slide by. The gift I have been given has been the gift of life. I am clean and sober and in touch with God. I am going forth into the world with skills of communication, leadership, and integrity. I have a loving family that supports me. This Program saved my family, and it saved my life. I am very thankful for Cross Creek."
78. "On April 21st I had my eighteenth birthday, my second birthday in the Program. I had made the commitment to myself, long before, to stay and graduate from the Program. It has been the most powerful decision I have ever made. I feel that by staying, I have taken a stand for my success. I am thankful I have parents who are willing to make sacrifices to keep me here, and for all the people here who have supported me and not allowed me to slide by. The gift I have been given has been the gift of life. This Program saved my family, and it saved my life. I am very thankful for Cross Creek."
79. "I love being me and not having to put up any front in order to feel like people will accept me and love me."
80. "I had many good times at Casa, but I believe it was the hard times that I gained the most from. Now, after Casa By The Sea, life is great. I have never felt so emotionally, mentally and physically good. I am attending the University of Alaska Anchorage and am on my way to a Bachelor's in Nursing. I am making plans to get a Teen Help booth at our State Fair this year so i can assist other families in need. A year ago I never would have thought that I would graduate high school, much less be in college. I am making it...I figure if I refuse to let the world hold me back, nobody can stop me."
